HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE???
just kidding but buckle up for some cute baby pictures really quick
When Mollie moved from Australia to Northern Virginia at age six, she had no idea her future husband lived just ten minutes down the road. They both ended up at the same tiny elementary school, Little Langley — Mikey in Kindergarten, Mollie in Junior Kindergarten with his younger brother and future partner-in-crime, Tommy.
Mollie and Tommy hit it off instantly and stayed thick as thieves through school and beyond.
Mikey mostly stayed cool and mysterious in the background a grade above (just kidding — he was always loudly up to something. Also look how cute his little bowl cut was).
They grew up at Little Langley and on the soccer field — always at Lewinsville Park, always on opposite fields, just missing each other.
In high school, things started to shift. There were parties. Maybe awkward flirting. Maybe a kiss or two. Still, they were too shy to actually talk like real humans.
Through college, they picked up steam whenever they were back home — mostly in DC bars over Thanksgiving breaks and at the chaotic after-parties in the Duffy basement. There was definite chemistry, but the timing never quite clicked.
side bar: Mollie thinks it’s so funny that THIS is the only digital evidence of knowing each other for 21 years before dating
Then came five years of separate lives: Mikey moved to Chicago → Breckenridge → UCLA and Los Angeles.
Mollie stayed in Arlington and then eventually to San Diego, where she remained blissfully unaware that Mikey was slowly working his way through a cross-country subplot.
Then came one night at Mammoth Mountain. Coincidentally, both were visiting towns on ski trips with separate groups of friends.
Mikey glimpsed Mollie out the window of a bar.
Mollie was outside, “enjoying a breath of fresh air” with Swatts (wink).
He ran out, called her name — and it felt like no time had passed at all.
Five months later, he slid into her DMs (note the “sent 1 minute ago,” as it was screenshotted at lightspeed and texted to the girls).
He told her he was moving to San Diego for the summer.
Mollie smiled while responding “how fun!” knowing full well she could do a lot with that “maybe more” in his DM.
By the end of that summer, they were official.
Then came the golf cart. And then in June 2024, engaged!
Now we get to celebrate our wedding in Sayulita with all of our favorite people!
